Geology

 - Target Types

Four (4) distinct mineralization styles, or target types, have been identified at the Rio Grande property:

  1. Cu-Au Oxide: Near surface, fracture-controlled copper oxides ±sulphides (at depth) with gold (green target zones Figure 1),

      1. Occur in a circular pattern centered on the Rio Grande complex
      2. Low sulphide
      3. Low quartz
      4. Strong fracture control
      5. Associated with Na-Ca / Biotite alteration
      6. Magnetite common
      7. Black and blue-green copper oxides after chalcopyrit

  2. Cu ± Au Deep Sulphide (Porphyry): Deeper porphyry copper-gold style mineralization (blue target zones Figure 1),

      1. Centered on & possibly 400-600m depth in the middle of the circular pattern centered on the Rio Grande complex
      2. Pyrite - Chalcopyrite
      3. Associate with classic quartz stockwork
      4. Associated with potassic alteration
      5. Magnetite common in area above

  3. Structurally-controlled Au (± Cu): Structurally controlled gold (±copper) mineralization associated with pyrite (red target zones Figure 1),

      1. Associated with Archibarca trend faults and fracture zone
      2. Associated with limonitic oxidation zones
      3. After Pyrite (± Chalcopyrite)?
      4. No obvious quartz veinin
      5. Appears to overprint the Cu-Au style (1) of mineralization

  4. Porphyry Au ± Cu (Linderos-type): Gold-copper mineralization associated with quartz-magnetite stockworks in diorite intrusive rocks similar to the near by Linderos deposit (yellow target zones Figure 1),

      1. Associated with diorite intrusion
      2. Associated with quartz-magnetite veinlets
      3. Appears to overprint the Cu-Au style (1) of mineralization
