Javier has received various awards and distinctions for his academic excellence.
In 2003, Javier worked for 4 months in the exploration department at Anglogold Ashanti’s Cerro Vanguardia low-sulphidation Au Mine in Patagonia, Argentina. During his time there Javier was responsible for logging diamond drill holes and marking that core for sampling. Javier also was involved with surface bedrock geological mapping at 1:1000 and 1:5000 scales. Javier completed his undergraduate thesis on the geology, structure and geochemistry of the Mangas 2 vein system, one of the more important high-grade Au ore-bodies in the Cerro Vanguardia district.
Javier joined Minera Antares Argentina S.A. in September of 2004 and since then has been actively involved in geological mapping, core logging, supervision of sampling crews, and detailed trench mapping at Antares’ Rio Grande project. In 2007, Javier was promoted to Project Manager of the Rio Grande Project.

Neil C. Barr, P. Geo — Chief Geologist Haquira Project |
To Top |
Neil Barr is a mine geologist and resource modeling geologist with more than 27 years experience in operating mines and advanced projects in Canada, United States, and Chile. Mr. Barr received a B.Sc. in geology with a minor in computer science from Brandon University in 1983. Mr. Barr completed a mine software training course in Medsystem (now MineSight) in 1986, a geostatistics course with Y.C. Kim of the University of Arizona in 1988, and recently in 2009 the Citation Course in Applied Geostatistics given by Clayton Deutsch of the University of Alberta.
In 1983, Mr. Barr began his career as a production geologist at an underground gold deposit in the NWT owned by Cullaton Lake Gold Mines, continuing in 1986 with Canada Tungsten Inc (CTI). With CTI, Mr. Barr worked as a production geologist, on drilling campaigns, and mineral resource modeling at the Cantung Mine underground mine in NWT, Swamp Creek Placer Gold Mine in the Yukon Territory, and the Aurora Partnership Gold Mine open pit in Nevada. Mr. Barr was also part of a team involved in various project evaluations as potential acquisitions with the responsibility for verifying mineral resources. One of these project evaluations was the Andacollo Copper Project in Chile, which was eventually optioned put into production. Mr. Barr permanently moved to Chile in 1995 to coordinate the production geology at the mine.
In 1996, Aur Resources Inc. absorbed Cantung in a friendly takeover. Mr. Barr eventually assumed the Chief Geologist role at Andacollo until 2001 when Mr Barr became Chief Geologist at the Quebrada Blanca Copper Mine in northern Chile. As Chief Geologist, Mr. Barr was responsible for establishing departmental procedures including grade control, sampling protocols, pit mapping, production reconciliation, drill program planning, QA/QC, resource modeling, and NI 43-101 reporting. Also with Aur, Mr. Barr continued in a similar role with due diligence evaluations verifying the geology and resource model of potential acquisitions.
In 2007, Mr. Barr was given another supervisory role for Aur Resources to oversee mining geology for the two Chilean mines, but this task was short lived as Teck acquired Aur. With Teck, Mr. Barr assumed the position of Regional Manager Reserve Evaluations, advising staff at the two mines in resource evaluation procedures and ensuring Best Practices were followed including QA/QC. Numerous internal reserve and resource technical reports were compiled during this period, the preparation of two NI 43-101 reports as the qualified person, and the creation of SOX compliance controls for reporting reserves.
In 2009, Mr. Barr left Teck and started a geological consulting company in Chile, principally taking on resource modeling contracts. During this period, Mr. Barr completed two resource modeling contracts for Antares Minerals Inc. on the Haquira deposit before joining Antares in March, 2010 as Chief Geologist of the Haquira Project. With Antares, Mr. Barr provides geological assistance and resource estimations for their projects.
