From 1981-1993 Mr. Black worked for Bear Creek Mining Company and Kennecott in North America and Mexico. He was involved in a wide variety of projects and programs including the delineation drilling of the Rawhide low sulfidation epithermal Au-Ag deposit in Nevada and the Mulatos high sulfidation epithermal Au-Ag deposit in Mexico, a short stint at the Lihir Au project in Papua New Guinea, and grass-roots exploration for volcanic-hosted epithermal Au in the western USA. From 1990-93 he was member of a small team assembled to evaluate and to explore for additional Cu and Au mineralization in the Bingham Canyon porphyry Cu-Mo-Au district, Utah.
In 1993 Mr. Black was seconded to RTZ, Kennecott’s parent corporation, to explore for Porphyry Cu deposits in N. Chile and in 1994 become Principal Geologist for RTZ in Ecuador. Mr. Black joined Western Mining Corporation (WMC) in 1995 as Chief Geologist – S. America based in Santiago, Chile and gained extensive experience in Chile, Argentina, and Peru with additional time also spent in most other S. American countries. From 1998-2002 Mr. Black was WMC’s Technical Exploration Manager for porphyry Cu exploration in Chile and Peru.
In 2002, after 9 years in S. America, he was repatriated to WMC’s office in Denver, Colorado and spent most of the next two years exploring for porphyry Cu-Au deposits in Turkey and Mongolia where he was a Director for WMC’s local entity. Mr. Black has authored or co-authored several articles and abstracts on the geology of epithermal Au-Ag and porphyry Cu-Au deposits in scientific journals. |

Kevin B. Heather, B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc., Ph.D. — Vice President Geology |
|
|
Dr. Kevin B. Heather is an economic geologist with more than 26 years of field experience in North and South America. Dr. Heather received a BSc. (honours) degree in geology from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada) in 1982, a MSc. degree in geology from Queen’s University (Kingston, Canada) in 1985, and a PhD. degree from the University of Keele (Keele, England) in 2001.
Between 1978 and 1984, Dr. Heather worked for a variety of exploration companies (Falconbridge Copper, Rio Tinto) and government geological surveys (BC Ministry of Mines, Geological Survey of Canada). From 1985-1992, Dr. Heather was employed as a Senior Geoscientist by the Ontario Geological Survey, where he was a team leader for various large, field-based regional- and mine-scale geological mapping programs in various Archean greenstone belts of Northern Ontario. During this time period Dr. Heather was part of a team specializing in the geology of Archean mesothermal lode-Au deposits and co-author of several publications on the same subject.
In 1992, Dr. Heather joined the Geological Survey of Canada as a Senior Project Geologist responsible for a 5-year, multidisciplinary, regional geological mapping program in the mineral prolific, Archean Abitibi-Swayze greenstone belt of Canada.
In 1997, Dr. Heather joined Barrick Gold Corporation (Barrick Chile Ltda.) as a Senior Exploration Geologist involved in exploration for high- and low-sulphidation epithermal Au deposits in the high-Andes of Chile and Argentina. From 1997-2001, Dr. Heather mapped the prolific El Indio-Tambo mineral district and worked on the world-class Pascua-Lama epithermal Au-Ag project.
From 2001-2002, Dr. Heather was project manager for a comprehensive geological compilation, target definition, and follow-up underground drilling program at the El Indio Au-Cu-Ag mine in Chile, which resulted in the delineation of several new vein structures; including a 800 m extension to the Indio Sur 3500 vein and parallel veins within a down-faulted block.
In 2002, Dr. Heather formed an independent consulting company, “The Rock Doctor Ltda.”, based in La Serena, Chile. During 2002-2003, Dr. Heather completed a district-scale, geological/structural mapping and target generation program for Anglogold at their Cerro Vanguardia low-sulphidation Au-Ag deposit in Patagonia, Argentina. This “fact-based” work has assisted in generating many new drill targets and concepts, some of which have added to the resource ounces found at the mine.
In 2004, Dr. Heather joined Antares Minerals as VP Geology. His responsibilities include project generation, quality control of technical data collected on Antares projects, geological mapping, target generation, and assisting in the planning, supervision, and execution of exploration programs. |
