Hubert Gamarra Rondon, B.Sc. — Exploration Manager Peru

Hubert Gamarra obtained a geology degree in 1991 from the La Universidad Nacional de San Agustín, Arequipa Perú. Hubert has extensive experience in exploration, evaluation, and exploitation of mineral deposits in southern Peru.

From 1992-1994 Hubert worked as a geological assistant for various exploration companies in southern Peru; principally involved with reconnaissance exploration and geological mapping in a number of different geological environments. From 1992-2005 Hubert worked at the Tintaya Cu mine under the auspices of several companies: Magma Tintaya, BHP Tintaya and finally BHPBilliton Tintaya. During his tenure at Tintaya, Hubert progressively assumed positions of higher responsibility: Exploration Geologist, Chief Mine Geologist, Superintendent of Geology, and finally General Manager of Planning for Exploration and Geology.

Hubert has experience in organizing and implementing drill programs, core and RC-chip logging, ore control, QA/QC programs, geotechnical studies, project planning, managing databases, geological mapping, geological interpretation of sections and plan maps, generation of geological block models, geo-metallurgical studies, and mine planning.

Hubert brings to Antares a wealth of experience in health and safety; having been trained in NOSA-NOSCAR, ISO 14001. In addition, Hubert was an accredited trainer for various programs such as DDI-Team Work, Leadership GLP1 (Australia), Operational Excellence and Green Belt in the Six Sigma program.

Hubert joined Minera Antares Peru S.A.C. in August 2005 as Exploration Manager Peru.

 


Geraldine Paz – Office Administrator

Geraldine graduated in 1999 from the Universidad Del Pacifico in Peru as an Administrative Assistant. Geraldine possesses excellent interpersonal skills and throughout her career she has demonstrated her ability to work in a team. She is creative, organized, and a responsible person with administrative experience in various Peruvian mining, manufacturing, commercialization and publicity companies during the past 20 years.

Geraldine also has training in Human Resources Management, English (advanced level) and training in SAP modules, First Priority, Six Sigma (Yellow Belt), NOSA, Dupont 24/7 and ISO 14001.

Geraldine Paz joined Minera Antares Peru S.A.C. in September 2005 as Office Administrator for Antares’ office in Arequipa Peru.

 


Liz Sanchez,  B.Sc.— GIS Geologist

Liz obtained a geology degree in 2006 from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Lima, Perú. She has experience in GIS systems and database management. Liz is a responsible, creative and team oriented professional who is always ready to take on new challenges and goals. From 2004 to 2006 she worked in Teck Cominco Perú S.A. in GIS systems; she is experienced in several software packages such as MapInfo, Discover and database management.
 

Liz Sánchez joined Minera Antares Peru S.A.C. in April 2007 in the role of GIS Geologist.

 


Katherine López Cornejo, B.Sc. — IT Database Administrator

Katherine studied at the Universidad San Martin de Porres Lima, Peru, where she obtained a degree in Ingenieria de Computación y de Sistemas in 2001. She has experience in Oracle, SQL Server, and acQuire database software packages. Katherine is a team-oriented person who has been trained to work in a safe and environmentally friendly way.

From 1998-1999 Katherine worked for the Peruvian Ministerio de Energia y Minas, Empresa de Transmisión Electrica Centro Norte, and BVC Corporation; where she gained valuable experience in database systems, administration, and programming. In 2000, Katherine joined BHP Tintaya as a digitizer in the systems area of the geology and exploration department. Three months later she was promoted to Systems Analyst, where she was responsible for the Tintaya mine’s SQL Server and acQuire databases; and charged with upgrading and maintaining the geological, drill-hole and blasting databases.

Katherine joined Minera Antares Peru S.A.C. in September of 2005 in the role of IT Database Administrator.

 


Teresa Aparcana — Secretary

Teresa is an active, motivated and efficient person with six years of administrative and secretarial experience. She worked for Estudio Jurídico de Abogados (a Peruvian legal firm) from January 1999 to July 2001 as a general secretary, where she handled contracts, took and maintained meeting notes and minutes, and managed legal documents.
 
From 1999-2005, Teresa worked in the administration of the Universidad Nacional de San Agustín in Arequipa, Peru. From January 2003 to December 2006 she studied nursing and employs her knowledge base and skills in the workplace, playing an important role in health-related office needs. She speaks and writes English, after three years of study in the English language institute. Teresa has always shown an eager interest in learning more about our company and the business in general.

Teresa joined Minera Antares Peru S.A.C. in August 2005 in the role of secretary in our Arequipa office. 
 

  

Marco Ernesto Peña Aguirre, B.Sc. — Community Relations Coordinator

Marco Peña obtained an Agricultural Engineer’s degree in Zoo technology in 1998 from the Universidad Nacional de San Antonio Abad del Cusco, Cusco, Peru. Marco has extensive experience in relations with indigenous communities in southern Peru.

In 1998, Marco began his career with the FONCODES (The Rural Social Development Fund for Peru) carrying out surveys in southern Peru until 1999. From 2000-2006 Marco worked at the Tintaya Cu mine under the auspices of several departments of BHPBilliton Tintaya. During his tenure at Tintaya, Marco progressively assumed positions of higher responsibility and confidence working with the communities around the mine. Prior to his departure, Marco worked with the Tintaya Foundation which was charged with all development related to indigenous communities affected by the mine, mill and tailings operations.

Marco speaks fluent Quechua and has extensive experience in organizing and implementing community programs. His strengths include livestock and pasture improvement, veterinary applications, adobe building construction and community education programs related to these subjects.
 
Marco brings experience in health and safety to Antares; having been trained in NOSA and ISO 14001 systems. In addition, Marco has received specialized training in social and environmental management, establishment of social license, matrix logic planning and special training in dairy production.

Marco joined Minera Antares Peru S.A.C. in June 2006 as Community Relations Coordinator.

 

 
Saturnino Vera Negrón, B.Sc. — Project Geologist

Saturnino Vera Negrón received a B.Sc. degree in Geology in 1991 from the Universidad Nacional de San Agustin, Arequipa Perú. Saturnino brings to Antares extensive experience in general project activites. 

In 1994, in his early days as a geologist, Saturnino worked for Compañía Minera Arirahua at its low sulphidation Au-Ag mine in Condesuyos, Arequipa. He worked as an assistant of the Shift Chief. After that, in 1995, he joined Minera Teck Peru S.A. where he was part of the exploration crew working at the Rosa Maria Project (Cu-Mo Porphyry) in Cocachacra, Arequipa. His responsibilities included: control of drill-sites, geological mapping, trench mapping and sampling, channel sampling and RC and core geological logging.
 
From 1996-1999, Saturnino worked as a mine geologist for Minera Aurifera Retamas S.A. at its Unidad Gigante Au Mine, in Departamento La Libertad, Province of Pataz. While there, he was involved in both surface and underground exploration core drilling programs. His responsibilities included: control of drill-sites, core geological and geotechnical logging, sample preparation for special studies, etc.
 
In 2000, Saturnino worked for 6 months in Cementos Yura S.A. (Arequipa) as a geologist in charge of quality control and supervision of bench blast activities. From April 2002 to December 2003 he worked for Minera Shila S.A.C. Cedimin supervising drilling activities (core logging, supervision of sampling crews, etc) and general logistics. From 2004-2005 Saturnino worked for Compañía de Minas Buenaventura U.E.A. – Orcopampa as a resident geologist in charge of diamond drilling activities at the Layo Project.
 
Saturnino joined Minera Antares Peru S.A.C. in 2005 as a project geologist involved with the Haquira project in southern Peru.

 


 
Erick Villena Sosa, B.Sc. — Project Geologist

Erick has a Bachelors Degree in Geology from the UNSA Arequipa, graduating in 2004. He worked as a student geologist in BHP Billiton's (now Xstrata Copper) Tintaya Mine in 2005. He also worked as a student for the Southern Peru Copper Mine, carrying out work in epithermal, skarn, porphyry and other geological environments. 

In 2006, he began working with Minera Antares Peru S.A.C. as a field geologist.

 
 

 


Wualther Salcedo Valverde, B.Sc. — Project Geologist

Wualther graduated from the Universidad Nacional de San Agustín de Arequipa (Peru) as a geological engineer specializing in the interpretation of remote sensing. Wualther has worked as an exploration field geologist since 1988.

He has worked for various Peruvian mining companies including: Centromin Perú, Compañía Minera BTS, Compañía de Exploraciones e Inversiones Cedimin, Buenaventura Ingenieros, Compañía Minera Hoschild Sermin and Compañía Minera Arirahua, among others. 

Wualther joined the Minera Antares Perú S.A.C. team as a geologist in 2005.
